Pilau

  • Pilawo is a spiced rice dish, cooked with meat or vegetables, and flavoured with whole and ground spices. It produces fragrant, often yellowish rice, usually fairly dry (not soggy) with separate grains.

  • In Uganda/East Africa, pilau is considered a celebratory or special dish. It’s commonly served at weddings, religious festivals (like Eid), Christmas, and other important gatherings.
